Library Workshop Series

The library is hosting a series of hands-on workshops for some of our newest research and academic support tools. These workshops cover support for citation management, census data retrieval and custom map creation, and graduate entrance and professional licensing exams.

Zotero

The library will host a workshop Tuesday, October 23, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on how to use Zotero.  The workshop will take place in Library Room 101E.  Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share research.  This session will teach you how to export journal citations from a database and create your works cited page or a bibliography in the citation style that is required by your professor.  This is a hands-on session, so feel free to bring your laptop or you can use one of the library’s computers.  For more information, please contact Cole Williamson at wcwilliamson@ualr.edu.

EndNote Basic

The library will host a workshop Wednesday, October 31, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. on how to use EndNote Basic.  The workshop will take place in Library Room 101E.  Endnote Basic, a free version of EndNote, helps to create bibliographies or works-cited pages in formats required by your professor.  This is a hands-on session, so feel free to bring your laptop or you can use one of library’s computers.  For more information, please contact Cole Williamson at wcwilliamson@ualr.edu.

Social Explorer

The library will host a workshop Tuesday, November 6, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on how to use Social Explorer.  The workshop will take place in Library Room 101E.  Social Explorer is an online research tool designed to provide quick and easy access to historical census data and demographic information. PrepStep

The library will host a workshop Tuesday, November 13, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on how to use PrepStep.  The workshop will take place in Library Room 101E.  PrepStep for Colleges provides a variety of educational resources.  This session will focus on the preparation for tests that are required for graduate school or licensing, such as the GRE, NCLEX-RN, and the LSAT.  For more information, please contact Carol Macheak at cimacheak@ualr.edu.
