RISE from Ottenheimer Library April Schedule

Basic Searching | Thursday, April 1 @ 1:30pm  

If you don’t quite know where to begin or need a refresher, you’ve come to the right place. Learn basic methods to find specific types of information, using Wikipedia, Quick Search and Google. We will also introduce the concept of citation tracking.

Speed Dating with General Databases |  Wednesday, April  7 @ 1 p.m  

Have you been looking for information in all the wrong places? The library offers a variety of databases to choose from, but which one should you choose? Learn about our most popular multidisciplinary databases’ best features and content. These databases will offer lots of information for anyone. Complete three rounds of “speed dating”. Who knows, you just might find the information you have been looking for.  

Search Smarter and Strategically | Thursday, April 8 @ 1:30pm    

Have a research project? Do you have a plan? Research is not linear and it takes planning and mental flexibility. In this session, you will learn how to focus your research and create a research plan geared toward your information needs. You will go through a series of steps, questions, and background reading to help you better understand and create a research question, and then find sources to “answer” that question by generating keywords.

Thinking About Graduate School? Score Higher On Admissions Tests with Test Prep Tools |  Tue April 13 @ 1:30-2 p.m.  

Learning Express’ Grad School Test Prep from Ottenheimer Library is an e-learning tool designed to help college students score higher on popular graduate school admission tests, including GMAT® GRE® MAT® MCAT® LSAT® PCAT®.  In this session, you will learn how to access, navigate, and track your progress.

Are you ready for the next step? Ace Your Occupation Exams | Tuesday, April 13 @ 2-2:30 p.m.   

Learning Express’ Career Preparation from Ottenheimer Library provides online professional and licencing exams’, practice tests, and e-books to  help you ace common exams for nursing, social work, law enforcement, teacher education, military, civil services, real estate, and more. In this session, you will learn how to access, navigate, and track your progress. You will also discover workplace skill resources that may be helpful in your future career.
