Building Information

The Ottenheimer Library is located right at the heart of campus next to the SSC and across from the DSC. The five-story building currently houses the Institutional Review Board and Graduate School offices, as well as the new UA Little Rock Learning Commons, which includes the Communication Skills Center, Mathematics Assistance Center, University Writing Center, World Languages Center, and Trojan Tutoring.

Archives and Special Collections

The University Archives and Special Collections at Ottenheimer Library contain materials that are historically significant to the UA Little Rock, as well as research materials that are rare and/or fragile. Materials are not available for browsing, but will be retrieved upon request.

Conditions of Use

The collections are available for in-library use by UA Little Rock faculty, students, staff, as well as the general public. All users of the collection must have a valid library account prior to accessing the materials. The materials in Special Collections are retrieved by library staff for use within the Ottenheimer Library. As items may be rare or fragile, the Library reserves the right to further limit the use of Special Collections materials based on the physical condition of the item(s).

Holdings information is available in the Library Discovery Search for all collections (except UA Little Rock Archives).  Special Collection requests can be placed via the online form.  Materials will be pulled and generally be available within 24 hours (Monday-Friday) after the request.

Book Drop


There is a book drop outside the West entrance.  Materials can be returned twenty-four hours a day.

Circulating Materials


Circulating materials are on the 4th and 5th floors. Library of Congress call numbers beginning with A – QA 79 are on the 4th floor. The sequence begins in the northwest corner and ends in the middle of the floor on the east side. QA 80 – Z call numbers are on 5th floor. This sequence begins on the southwest side of the floor and ends at the southeast side.

Government Information


Physical copies of U.S. government publications are located on the 3rd floor and most are available for circulation. Most government documents are searchable and available online using the library’s discovery search on the library homepage.

Journals


Print and microform journals are located on the 3rd floor and are arranged in alphabetical order by title. Most of the journal titles held by the library are in electronic format. Users should consult Journal Finder on the library website to locate journals in all formats.

Media


DVDs and CDs are located on the 3rd floor.

Printers/Photocopiers/Scanners


Photocopiers/Scanners are located on the 1st floor.  A campus ID is required to make copies; money can be added to the campus ID at a value station located on the 1st floor. Copies are 4 cents for black and white and 10 cents for color.  Scanning to e-mail or a USB drive is free. *Attention students, staff and faculty: the Cashier’s Office is now able to take debit and credit  payments from students, faculty, and staff to add funds for printing to their Pharos account.  This can be done at the Cashier’s Office or calling them at 501-916-3450, and asking to add library print funds.  When you go to the Cashier’s Office, you will receive a physical receipt and if you call in you will receive an email receipt. A receipt MUST be provided before funds can be added. Please note that payments made to the Cashier’s Office are non-refundable and their receipt will state that.  This payment option is not available to community users.

Restrooms


Restrooms are located on each floor. The 1st floor restroom is located behind the main staircase. The restrooms on the upper floors are on the south side of the building. Users can locate them by going to the right when exiting the elevators.

Study Rooms


Individual Study Rooms are available for quiet study on the 4th floor and group study rooms are available on the 1st floor. All study rooms are available on a first-come first-served basis.
