The Little Rock Congregations Study is an ongoing research project that aims to deliver meaningful and relevant results to the citizens of Little Rock and the broader community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the direction of Dr. Rebecca A. Glazier at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the Little Rock Congregations Study (LRCS) has been engaging graduate and undergraduate students in hands-on research about the religious organizations in their community since 2012. Research Goals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Little Rock Congregations Study has three main goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To improve our understanding of the impacts of faith-based community engagement<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. To get students out of the classroom and into the community to learn and give back<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. To provide relevant and meaningful findings to the community<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Learn more about our research findings<\/a> and research analysis<\/a> and explore the infographics and academic papers. You can also learn about the good work that religious organizations are doing<\/a> in Little Rock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We appreciate the support and insight provided to us by our Clergy Advisory Board<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Clergy Advisory Board is made up of religious leaders from diverse backgrounds across our city. They advise the research team on methods (question selection, survey distribution, inclusive question wording, etc.) and outreach (congregation recruitment, networking, messaging, etc.). Glazier. Glazier<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"mailto:rebecca.glazier@gmail.com\">Dr. Rebecca A. Glazier<\/a>, the primary investigator and director of the Little Rock Congregations Study, received her Ph.D. in political science from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2009 and founded the LRCS in 2012. In 2025, Dr. Glazier left academia to work full time in faith-based community engagement as a Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"294\" src=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/lrcs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/192\/2017\/11\/Glazier-Photo-20170915-cropped-300x294.jpeg\" alt=\"Dr. Rebecca A. There is so much good that religious organizations do in our community and I love getting students out of the classroom and into the community to learn about it. Seeing students develop research questions and test hypotheses in the data we collect is really rewarding. I am so grateful to the congregations we work with for providing these great opportunities.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dr-gerald-driskill\">Dr. Gerald Driskill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Gerald Driskill joined the Little Rock Congregations Study in 2017 after engaging in 15 years of research focused on understanding the leadership practices of  a local network of faith leaders collaborating to serve the city. He received his Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Kansas. He joined the faculty at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1990. He is a professor in the Department of Applied Communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/ualr.edu\/lrcs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/192\/2024\/01\/Driskill.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Gerald Driskill\" class=\"wp-image-1186\" style=\"width:139px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThis community engaged research continues to engage my heart, mind, and soul. I have been humbled by the commitment level of community leaders seeking to bring hope to our city as they address endemic challenges ranging from health and education to race relations and division. As they engage with us and our student in difference making, I am grateful for their time and passion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-student-researchers\">Student Researchers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 200 undergraduate and graduate students have contributed to the Little Rock Congregations Study since it began in 2012. The LRCS provided me with invaluable experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting social science data, as well as the opportunity to engage with the Little Rock community more broadly. In 2020, we moved our data collection online and expanded to work with 35 congregations and over 2,200 congregants. In recent years, we have focused our research on faith-based racial justice, including hosting a Race and Faith Summit for religious leaders and producing resources for people and places of faith. More than 200 student researchers have contributed to the LRCS since it started in 2012.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A book based on the data of the Little Rock Congregations Study, by Dr. Rebecca A.
