2019 Fall Film Series

The Other Son – October 14

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Middle Eastern Studies Program will begin the Fall Film Series with The Other Son to highlight important art from the Middle Eastern region and to facilitate discussion about important contemporary issues.

The first film, “The Other Son”, will screen Monday, October 14th, at 6 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Room 104. A moving and provocative tale of two young men, one Israeli, the other Palestinian, who discover they were accidentally switched at birth, and the complex repercussions on themselves and their respective families. The film will be followed by a discussion.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night – November 1

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Middle Eastern Studies Program will continue the Fall Film Series with A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night to highlight important art from the Middle Eastern region and to facilitate discussion about important contemporary issues.

The second film, “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night”, will screen Friday, November 1, at 6 p.m. at UA Little Rock Downtown. Strange things are afoot in Bad City. The Iranian ghost town, home to prostitutes, junkies, pimps, and other sordid souls, is a place that reeks of death and hopelessness, where a lonely vampire is stalking the towns most unsavory inhabitants. But when boy meets girl, an unusual love story begins to blossom…blood red. The film will be followed by a discussion.

The Band’s Visit – November 18

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s Middle Eastern Studies Program will continue the Film Series this Fall to highlight important art from the Middle Eastern region and to facilitate discussion about important contemporary issues.

The final film, “The Band’s Visit”, will screen Monday, November 18, at 6 p.m. in the Student Services Center, Room 104.
