NOTE: Any schedule modification resulting in a change of total number of hours, must be reported to the School Certifying Official (SCO) by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The SCO will adjust an associated VA Enrollment Certification adjustment VA Once. Some changes in enrollment may result in a VA debt.
Okay, that is your part. We also play a part in ensuring you receive all benefits you have earned.
Upon completion of your VA Enrollment Certification processing, the School Certifying Official notifies the UA Little Rock Bursar’s Office that you are a Post-9/11, Chapter 33, VA Benefits student. This indicates that you are entitled to VA educational benefits and to not drop you for no payment. This allows you to stay in your classes.
Tuition and Fees Payment
Payments for tuition/fees (in-state amount), consistent with your Post-9/11 Percent Eligibility, will be wire transferred by the VA directly to your UA Little Rock student account. However, at the direction of the VA, the amount of your tuition/fees (in-state) are not reported to the VA until after UA Little Rock Census Day, which is normally the 10th day of the term.
Important Information for Chapter 33 Students
To initiate VA payment processing of your Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) and your Book Stipend, both consistent with your Post-9/11 Percent Eligibility, your enrollment credit hours are reported to the VA as soon as your UA Little Rock Certification Request Form (CRF) is processed by the UA Little Rock Office Military Student Success Center.
VA pays the Book Stipend at a rate of $41.67/credit hour with a maximum of $1,000 per year. This stipend will be deposited into the bank account identified in your vets.gov application. It typically arrives three to four weeks after VA Enrollment Certification.
Monthly Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH)
Your monthly Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) will be deposited into the bank account identified in your vets.gov application. It is paid on the first of the month for the previous month and is only paid for the days that you are enrolled in class. So if classes start on August 15th, you will get paid on September 1st for approximately 50% of whatever your BAH is, because you are being paid from August 15-August 31.
Changes in Enrollment
VA Education Benefits pay for the classes in which you are enrolled. Enrollment changes following VA Enrollment Certification for the term (e.g. Withdraw, Drop, and “WX” Grade in a Course) may result in VA debt. This means that you will owe the VA for classes they paid for, but you dropped. You may also owe the VA for prorated BAH, because the date you were dropped or withdrew will be the day a new rate begins.
If you are unsure of the benefit potential debt impact of contemplated enrollment changes, please check with the UA Little Rock Office Military Student Success Center.
