United Way Campaign Offers Fun, Community Benefits
UALR’s annual United Way campaign is under way and campaign coordinator Tracy Johnson hopes UALR employees will be a part of helping Central Arkansas families who are in need.
“Heart of Arkansas United Way supports health and human services organizations in Central Arkansas, and partners with local agencies on special projects and programs that benefit our community,” Johnson said.
United Way agencies help one out of every three people in our community including students at the UALR Children International Future Smiles Dental Clinic. Donations will also feed hungry families and help children with disabilities, ensure that low-income seniors receive transportation, medications, and hot meals, and provide counseling and after-school activities for at-risk teens.
A $1 per week gift ($52 per year) will provide a month of formula for one infant at Our House. No gift is too small.
Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 22, and running through the end of the campaign, participants in the campaign will be eligible for a daily drawing for a prize. Also, individuals who pledge $120 per year will receive The United Way Caring Club card that provides discounts for many centrally located businesses.
The campaign concludes with a 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 31 Halloween party and costume with food, fun, prizes and a 2 p.m. costume judging. The event will be held at the Donaghey Student Center upper concourse.
