Trojan Women Tout ‘Think Pink’ for Feb. 18 Game

UALR’s women’s basketball team, dressed in special pink uniforms, will host Western Kentucky at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, for the WBCA Pink Zone game to help in the fight against breast cancer.

The WBCA Pink Zone initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond.

think pink The first 500 fans will receive pink T-shirts and fans are encouraged to wear pink, the official color for the fight against breast cancer.

All breast cancer survivors will be admitted to the game for free, and the Susan B. Komen Foundation will be distributing information about the disease and how fight it.

Two autographed pink jerseys and one autographed basketball will be raffled off at the game to raise money for the Komen Foundation and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund.

The WBCA Pink Zone, formerly known as “Think Pink,” started in 2007 with more than 120 institutions participating in all levels of women’s basketball. In 2008, more than 1,200 teams and organizations participated with more than $930,000 going toward breast cancer awareness and research.
