Federalist Chapter Hosts Constitutional Lawyer Oct. 16

Alan Gura, a Washington, D.C., based attorney whose practice focuses on constitutional law, will speak at noon Friday, Oct. 16, in Room 505 at the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. His talk is sponsored by the Federalist Society UALR Bowen Law School Chapter.

Gura is the counsel on record for one of three upcoming U.S. Supreme Court hearings involving Second Amendment gun rights. He has been one of the most influential advocates for gun rights in America. He was the lead attorney who successfully argued Heller v. D.C., in which the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment did grant a federal right to individuals to possess a gun within their homes.

Gura’s practice focuses on constitutional law. In 2009, he was named one of Washington’s Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 and a Champion of Justice by Legal Times. Gura is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and Cornell University.

A founding partner in Gura & Possessky, PLLC, he is admitted as an active member in good standing in the District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia State Bar, and the State Bar of California. Gura is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous federal courts of appeal and district courts.
