Chastity Reed’s Jersey Placed in “Ring of Honor”
After a record-setting junior season, forward Chastity Reed’s No. 20 jersey will be displayed in the “Ring of Honor” at the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn. This is the first time in UALR school history for a women’s basketball jersey to be displayed there.
The “Ring of Honor” has become one of the most popular exhibits since the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame opened in 1999 and recognizes young basketball players for their achievements in the sport. Last season, more than 100 jerseys were displayed for a year including high school and college All-Americans.
Reed helped lead the UALR women’s basketball team to the team’s first-ever NCAA appearance and victory with a win over Georgia Tech in the first round. During the 2009-10 season, Reed became the UALR career record holder in both scoring and rebounding, becoming the first women’s basketball player to do so since Adrian Brown in 1985.
Reed ended her junior campaign ranked No. 1 in the nation in field goals made with 346, No. 2 in the nation in total points with 842, and No. 4 in the nation in points per game averaging 24.8.
