Construction to Bring Parking Changes

Four UALR parking lots will be impacted by pending construction of new buildings beginning this summer, Robert Adams, vice chancellor of finance, announced this week.

That means some students and employees assigned to the affected lots will be reassigned spaces and will be contacted by officials in the Department of Public Safety about the relocation.

“We have taken all possible measures to minimize the disruption to the campus during this construction period and apologize for the inconvenience,” Adams said in an all-campus message. He also directed drivers to the construction web page to view the parking areas impacted.

Parking lots impacted by construction are:

  • Near Fine Arts and Engineering & Technology (EIT) Buildings: The temporary Lot 8 behind the Fine Arts building will be closed permanently, and reserved parking will be relocated to the new Lot 8, north of the EIT building. Those employees affected will be contacted directly by the Office of Public Safety.
  • Near Donaghey Student Center and Ottenheimer Library: Lot 1 will be closed beginning Aug. 15 to allow construction of the One-Stop Student Services building. Drivers affected by these changes will be reassigned to Lot 2 or the parking garage. The open spaces on Campus Drive West have been permanently closed to accommodate traffic flow. Open parking is available in Lots 13, 14, and 15. Handicapped drivers previously assigned to Lot 1 will be reassigned to Lot 9. Most reserved parking currently in Lot 9 will be relocated to Lot 8.
  • Parking Changes Near Residence Halls: A portion of Lot 10 will be closed to allow construction of a new residence hall for honors students. Drivers displaced by this closure will be able to park in Lot 12 and Lot 15.
