UALR’s Department of Athletics raised in excess of $180,000 at its Thursday, Oct. 8 event “SpectacUALR,” a University record, said Bob Denman, executive director of development.
“Protest and Parody,” an art exhibit curated by Courtney Taylor, will open at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the J.W. Wiggins Native American Art Gallery in conjunction with the Ninth Annual Sequoyah Research Symposium.
The Bank of America Foundation has presented UALR with a gift of $25,000 to support the University’s recruitment and retention efforts, matching a similar gift UALR received from the foundation last year.

UALR’s 2009-10 “Difference of Degree” advertising campaign launched this month with a fresh new message that emphasizes the metropolitan university’s unique differences from other colleges and universities in Arkansas.
In the wake of record enrollment and new construction efforts, UALR is launching a new annual giving program created to make a difference for students and the community the institution serves.
Tickets are going fast for UALR’s first “SpectacUALR,” a fundraising event at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Jack Stephens Center, benefitting the Trojan Athletic Foundation. The event will honor Annette Fisher, mother of former Trojan basketball star and Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher.

Mary and Dan Littlefield of North Little Rock believe in putting their money where their hearts are. The director of UALR’s Sequoyah National Research Center, Littlefield and his wife made their first gift to UALR in January 1984 and so far the total is just under $300,000.

Mary Frances Frederick, a 1938 graduate of UALR, has bequeathed her alma mater an endowment that will fund a full-time student scholarship each year so others can receive the gift of an education that enriched her life.

UALR Public Radio KUAR/KLRE presents “An Evening with Diane Rehm,” Thursday, Sept. 3, for a reception and dinner with the veteran broadcaster whose daily national radio program, the “Diane Rehm Show,” airs on KUAR FM 89 weekday at 9 a.m.
