A Tour of the Japanese American Relocation Center in Rohwer
My colleagues and I traveled to Desha County on Monday, Nov. 5, to visit the Rohwer Japanese American Relocation Center. Tamisha Cheatham, the UALR Institute on Race and Ethnicity program coordinator and a student in the UALR Master of Public History program, invited the institute staff to join her at the site. Race, ethnicity, and the Arkansas media will be the focus of the ninth annual Conference on Racial Attitudes in Pulaski County, Thursday, March 15. The conference is presented by the UALR Institute on Race and Ethnicity and will be held in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building.
The UALR Department of History will soon offer a new minor in Race and Ethnicity. Faculty are invited to submit courses they would like added to the minor’s list of elective classes.

Patricia Smith, Pushcart Prize winner and four-time individual champion of the National Poetry Slam, will read some of her works at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in UALR’s Fine Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public. A reception and book signing will follow.
Students are invited to submit works for the cover of the next Racial Attitudes in Pulaski County Conference.
