The University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus will be abuzz with activity as students and their families return Saturday, Aug. 13, for move-in day.
The Office of Campus Living (formerly Student Housing) is seeking UALR student and employee volunteers to assist the 1,400 students who will move in that day.
Marc Glidden, director of campus living, said it is important for students and parents to remain flexible during the move-in process.
“We have 1,400 students moving in on one day, so it can be confusing. If everyone can be flexible, parents can sit back and enjoy the experience of their students going to college,” Glidden said. “If you forget to buy something, there is no need to panic. There are plenty of stores nearby to get those last-minute items for your student.”
Check-in for students with last names A-L will be from 8 a.m. to noon, while students with last names M-Z can check in 1-5 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available outside the Trojan Grill.
Campus police will direct traffic. Campus Living staff members are also building maps that will guide traffic flow and instruct families where they can drop off belongings as close as possible to the student’s assigned building.
Check-in locations include the first floor lobbies of West Hall and East Hall, the Commons Great Room for North Hall or South Hall, and the University Village Clubhouse.
A free dinner for parents will be held at 5 p.m. in the Diamond Café in the Donaghey Student Center with a raffle for box tickets to the Homecoming and Parents’ Day basketball games. Parents canRSVP online for the free dinner or pick up tickets at check-in locations.
To sign up to volunteer, fill out the move-in day online form. For more information, contact the Office of Campus Living at 501.661.1743 or email@example.com.
