UA Little Rock Hosts Virtual Altar-Making Event for Day of the Dead

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a virtual altar-making event from 5-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.

Dr. Edma Delgado, associate professor of Spanish, will discuss the history and significance of the Day of the Dead.

The Day of the Dead is a holiday that takes place on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2. Delgado will discuss a basic overview of the elements of the Day of the Dead and explain what it means and how it has changed through American influence. She will also guide attendees on how to create their own altars.

The Multicultural Center is offering shoebox altars that students can take home. The shoeboxes are filled with supplies for students to build their Day of the Dead altars at home during the virtual altar-making event. The event is also sponsored by LULAC and the Department of World Languages.

There will also be an altar displayed in the Ottenheimer Library front lobby through Nov. 3.
