The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will celebrate first-generation students Nov. 8 in honor of First-Generation College Celebration Day.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ottenheimer Library lobby. Student Retention Initiatives (SRI) staff will pass out free popcorn to those who attend to celebrate first-generation students, employees, and alumni.

“Being a first-generation college student can be overwhelming and confusing,” said Tyler Harrison, associate director of SRI. “Our office wants first-generation college students to know they do not have to navigate college alone, and there are so many services that can assist them in reaching their goals.”
