Forbes Advisor, a provider of higher education program rankings and articles, has ranked the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s online Master of Arts in Mass Communication program as one of the best online degree programs in the country.

UA Little Rock is listed on Forbes Advisor’s list of the Best Online Master’s in Journalism Programs of 2023. The Forbes Advisory methodology included studying 16 data points in the categories of credibility, affordability, student outcomes, student experience, and the application process.

UA Little Rock’s fully online master’s degree in mass communication emphasizes critical thinking in mass media and its strategic communication and journalistic practices as they relate to media content and its effects on the public as a whole.

Students in the 33 credit-hour program choose between the media research track, which requires a master’s thesis, and the professional media track, which involves creating a professional project.

The media research choice prepares distance learners to evaluate and conduct academic research in mass communication. Students are equipped with how to write and present their research findings to both academic and non-scholarly audiences.

Meanwhile, the professional mass media option gives students advanced professional experience in strategic communication/public relations or multi-platform journalism through the creation of a professional project for their capstone experience.
