Equivalencies and Credit by Examination

Credit by Examination

UALR offers credit by examination with some restrictions for courses identified in the UALR Undergraduate Catalog. Credit by examination for NURS 1300 and NURS 1505 is available to qualified paramedics and diploma program transfers with certain restrictions. One year of the diploma program must be successfully completed for consideration for transfer to the second semester of the UALR program. Information about credit by examination in nursing courses is available from the Department of Nursing.

For information on credit by examination, contact the UALR Office of Testing Services and Student Life Research (501-569-3198, Ross Hall 409).

Transfer Nursing Courses

To establish credit for nursing courses taken in another nursing program, the student must schedule an appointment with the Department Chairperson. Students must provide a copy of nursing course syllabi, college transcripts, and a letter from the director of the previous program stating the student is eligible to reenter their program.

Transfer General Education Courses

Transfer equivalency information for courses taken at another Arkansas college or university is located on the Arkansas Department of Higher Education website.

Transfer equivalency information for courses taken out of state may require review by the UALR department offering the equivalent course.  This is not necessary if the course is transferred to UALR and assigned an equivalency on your posted transfer grades.  If the course is posted as “lower level elective” but it is a course that is required for the ASN or BSN degree then you must obtain a course description from your previous college/university, complete a UALR Special Exception/Approval Request Form (Undergraduates), and submit the form to the designated UALR chairperson for review.
