This initiative, supported by the Office of the Provost, is designed to cultivate and strengthen academic leadership on our campus. Launched in 2024, the ALA provides a cohort-based model, offering academic administrators and individuals interested in leadership roles the opportunity to refine essential skills in leadership style, identity, and legitimation, conflict resolution, mentorship, and work-life balance. Workshops are scheduled across the academic year and include six (6) required monthly meetings and two half-day Retreats.   <br><br>For the upcoming academic year, the ALA will be offering two distinct cohorts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALA Cohort 3 <\/strong>(12 participants) is dedicated to <strong>Faculty Administrators <\/strong>at the Chair\/Director and Associate Dean levels. Those interested in participating should reach out to their college dean by <strong>March 9, 2026<\/strong>, with a request for nomination. This request should include their name, job title, time in their administrative position, a short response (no more than 3 &#8211; 4 sentences) on how they expect to benefit from the program, and an assurance of full participation. Following this, the dean will select and forward up to three nominations to the ALA leadership team by <strong>March 20, 2026<\/strong>, providing the nominee&#8217;s details and required statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ALA Cohort 4<\/strong> (15 participants), launching as a pilot, is for <strong>Academic Affairs Staff Administrators<\/strong> who are currently in a supervisory position or equivalent. The nomination process is similar: interested staff administrators should reach out to their direct supervisor by <strong>March 9, 2026<\/strong>, with a request for nomination. This request should include their name, job title, time in their administrative position, a short response (no more than 3 &#8211; 4 sentences) on how they expect to benefit from the program, and an assurance of full participation. As a state institution of higher education, the university ensures that its spaces are scheduled and managed in a consistent, efficient, and purposeful way to enhance learning, engagement, and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Academic and community events play an important part in the university and community experience, ensuring that learning, collaboration, and community engagement extend far beyond the classroom. Events should be submitted to the calendar the semester before the event is scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events are\u202fplanned gatherings including, but not limited to, celebrations, dances, lectures, Supported by the Office of the Provost, the ALA offers a cohort-based program designed to prepare new academic administrators and faculty members interested in leadership roles by offering skill-building workshops, retreats, and peer engagement opportunities. Dr. Shannon Collier-Tenison, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Tusty ten Bensel, Associate Dean for CBHHS, and Dr. Laura Danforth, Director of the School of Social Work are the founders and co-facilitators of the academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Academic Leadership Academy is pleased to welcome Cohort 2 for the 2025-2026 academic year. Cohort 2 includes faculty nominated by their respective college deans and who represent a broad set of academic rank and experiences. Among these are some general guidelines about the use of generative AI tools on campus and a glossary of terms to help us facilitate discussions on our campus relevant to our role as a metropolitan research university serving a diverse student population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is AI?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the development of computer systems that can perform tasks typically requiring human intelligence, such as learning, problem-solving, and decision-making. These systems can analyze data, recognize patterns, and make predictions or decisions based on the information they process.
