Three current MPA students, Amy King, Emily Sanderlin, and Shalon Bogart, and one undergraduate student, Karla Eppinette, served as model state senators during the Academy of Public Service session this summer. On June 18, 2022, Amy King wrote “Today was our last day and it’s been a very long and productive week with a lot more work to complete than any of us expected. We got to work with students from all over the state and we met Arkansas Senators, Representatives, and the Speaker of the House, along with several staff members. It was such a neat opportunity and I learned the most from the committee meetings and joint resolution sessions going through each and every bill. Playing Senator King for a week was a lot of hard work and fun indeed, now it’s back to the real world”.
