When I was asked to serve as the Graduate Assistant on the Freedom Riders Project, I was very excited and a little nervous. After I attended the first planning meeting, I was more than a little overwhelmed.
I realized that I didn’t know much about the Freedom Riders and their experience in Little Rock. What I did know was the little bit of information I’d received in my history classes over the years.
As I started doing research on the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission’s website, I began to realize how important this particular group of people was to not only the history of African Americans but to Americans in general.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading my blog as I delve deeper into the day the Freedom Riders came to Little Rock.
