This project has definitely been one with a lot of firsts!
Yesterday morning, I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Freedom Riders bus. Afterward, I was one of the first people to ride the bus.
Getting an opportunity to ride the bus was by pure happenstance, which was the best part. I was about to leave when some of the people on the planning committee asked if I wanted to ride the bus, and I said of course. You can’t turn down an opportunity like that!
We rode down to the river to photograph the bus in front of the Arkansas submarine and the Arkansas Queen Riverboat. Along with being one of the first people to ride the bus, it was my first time to ride a city bus in Little Rock. I’d used public transportation in other cities but never in Little Rock…everyday is a new adventure in the life of Amanda!
