Healing the Land Event to be Held in Elaine

The Healing the Land Commemoration will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2012, in honor of all Elaine survivors and victims of the summer of 1919 and their families.

The event will include a viewing of the video, Reconciliation and The Elaine Race Riot: Forgive or Forget, a panel discussion, and a community prayer to promote healing, forgiveness, and unity.

The event is led by Rev. Dr. Ronald Myers, the president of the Juneteenth Foundation and Dr. Robert Franklin, in conjunction with a Committee made up of community members in the surrounding area, and  Adjoa A. Aiyetoro, director of the UALR  Institute on Race and Ethnicity and Institute associate and assistant professor at UALR School of Social Work, Rev. Dr. LaVerne Bell-Tolliver.
