After graduating from Harding University in Searcy with an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice, Justin Keathley worked for the Division of Child and Family Services, providing case management services for youth and families in the foster care system. Justin decided to pursue a Master of Social Work degree from UA Little Rock, so that he could continue to serve youth and families in his community. Justin said that his commitment to working in a helping profession likely began long before he started college. Growing up with a twin brother who was born with cerebral palsy, Justin saw firsthand the importance of empowering others to accomplish their goals.
Justin has carried this experience into his academic and professional pursuits, including his Foundation Year Internship at United Family Services (UFS). Justin provided psychosocial assessments for clients at UFS, and shadowed clinical social workers as they provided therapy services. Helen Wayne, LCSW, has been working at UFS for nine years, and has been serving as a Field Instructor for Concentration Year Interns since 2011. She said that Justin provided invaluable feedback that will help ensure that future interns have an even better learning experience.
