Highlights from Intern Exit Interviews

Exit Interview Question

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your internship experience?

Intern 1 Answer: “8, The only thing I would count off on was the availability of having the same place to meet with students each time they were seen. The student’s feedback was often negative, and stated they were unhappy with having to change offices each time they were seen, and they felt unsettled because of it.”

Intern 2 Answer:  “10, I thought it was excellent.”

Intern 3 Answer:  “10, I would give it a higher number if I could.”

Exit Interview Question

Would you recommend this internship to a fellow student?  Any qualifications?

Intern 1 Answer:  N/A

Intern 2 Answer:  Yes

Intern 3 Answer:  “Absolutely!” “It was as close as it possibly could be to what I wanted to do, and learn.  For me, it was as perfect an internship as possible.”

Exit Interview Question

What suggestions do you have, if any, for improving this internship program?

Intern 1 Answer:  “I don’t have anything that I can think of. I knew that if needed, I could reach out for help.  I never felt like I was left to my own recognizance.  I felt it was a really good, interactive relationship between staff, and the other interns.”  I would rate this a program a (10).

Intern 2 Answer:  She would have liked a more thorough and deliberate training on Medicat; a more consistent office space, and enough lap-tops and Medicat access available for all the interns.  She also felt it would have helped to have paid parking access, with one of the reasons concerning safety.

Intern 3 Answer:  She would have liked better training on Medicat, terminating clients, and the DSM-5; and more structured training at the outset on treatment planning.
