Mission
The mission of the Office of the Dean of Students is to educate students regarding the university’s expectations of behavior, to protect students’ rights, and to assure fairness and due process.
Summary Narrative
1) Improve diversity and inclusion efforts to provide a safe and inclusive environment for students
- Served as ex-officio member of the university’s Racial Barriers Committee.
- Provided advice and support to students and student organizations including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) College Chapter.
2) Align financial and human resources to operate more effectively and efficiently
- Effectively supervised and managed financial budgets of 8 million dollars for the following units: Donaghey Student Center, Campus Living, and Auxiliary Services (Dining and Bookstore).
- Served as co-chair of the university’s Policy Management Board.
3) Promote student development, engagement, and leadership
- Effectively advised the Student Government Association throughout the academic year.
- Presented on campus safety best practices at all PEAW courses.
4) Other
- The unit continued to implement the student conduct process and advocate for students through various university processes.
- Assisted 37 students through efforts from the behavioral intervention team.

Unfortunately, this assessment was not complete due to budget decrease and lack of time. Unit’s budget decreased by $5,000 from FY21 to FY22. As a result, the unit did not have enough funds to purchase the Student Conduct Adjudication Processes Questionnaire (SCAPQ) or participate in the National Assessment of Student Conduct Adjudication Processes (NASCAP) Project. Goal is to develop a campus survey and disseminate in FY23.

This goal is in progress but did not fully complete this year. The Dining Services Committee began working on a dining survey but have not completed yet. Unit developed a draft bookstore feedback survey but would like the Bookstore Advisory Committee to review first before disseminating. Goal is to disseminate in FY23.
