The Sustainability Committee holds a number of annual competitions to promote the principles of sustainability and to encourage sustainable behavior on the UA Little Rock campus.
The Sustainability Committee accepts submissions of innovative research and teaching proposals for a $2,500 grant toward the development and promotion of the principles of sustainability.
There were 22 applications for the 2021-2022 Sustainability Grant. A majority of the proposals were from individual students or a small team. The following is a list of the grant winners:
Pollinator Garden $1,600
Bee Houses for Solitary Bees $350
Rescaping the Trojan Lawn with Native Grasses $2,500
Butterfly Garden $1,180
The winners of the 2022-2023 Sustainability Grant will be announced in Spring 2022.
All full- and part-time faculty, instructors, students, and staff may apply. Student submissions must have a faculty sponsor.
The maximum award amount is $2,500. However, proposals requiring lesser amounts are invited as well. The total number of awards and amounts will be selected by the Sustainability Committee. Funds may be used for travel, educational materials, equipment purchases, field trips, or guest speakers. All grant funds will be available for the next academic year and must be spent by the end of the fiscal year.

- Recipients must share project results with campus community
- Method of presentation can vary (e.g., demonstration at Earth Day, public lecture, presentation at Research Expo, etc.)
