The university’s strategic plan, UA Little Rock Fast Forward, includes an objective that the university will be a model of responsible stewardship of our physical resources. UA Little Rock has a variety of efforts in place to support long-term sustainability, such as the Coleman Creek Greenway Project. Also, we have enhanced our recycling program and have implemented energy saving measures. We have completed several LEED-certified buildings on campus as an ongoing goal of sustainable on-campus living. However, we can do more.
The Sustainability Committee will research, evaluate, and recommend measures the University should take in the interest of campus sustainability, including how best to spend an annual budget. They also will inform, educate, and encourage all members of the University community — students, faculty, and staff — regarding steps we can take as individuals to conserve resources and protect the environment, wherever we live on the planet or whatever our work.
