STUDENT FRINGE FESTIVAL VI ~ CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

FRINGE VI

Sponsored by the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance and the Kerry Kennedy Playwright Development Fund

The Department of Theatre Arts and Dance at UA Little Rock seeks student submissions of 10–minute plays and performance pieces (e.g., performance art, musical compositions for the stage, multi-media, spoken word, physical theatre, and dance). To be produced in the Student Fringe Festival VI (in some form or fashion) in April of 2021.

Guidelines

Submission of original work for the Fringe Festival is free and open to all students enrolled at UA Little Rock for Spring 2021.

  • Applicants may submit up to 2 entries;
  • A completed submission form must accompany each entry;
  • Performance work can be envisioned for an indoor stage space (the University Theatre) or an outdoor site-specific location on the UA Little Rock campus;
  • Indoor work is limited to 3 performers; Outdoor work may include up to 6 performers;
  • Covid-19 protocols for masking and social distancing will be followed for both indoor and outdoor work;
  • Each entry must include a cover page with the title, author’s name, and contact information;
  • Scripts may be no longer than 10 pages in length; a completed or near-completed 1st draft is desired;
  • All scripts and other types of performance briefs must have page numbers;
  • Previously published or produced material may not be submitted;
  • Submissions may also include proposals for multi-media performance, spoken word performance, choreography with spoken text, and dramatic musical compositions, fire-eating unicycle-riding monologues, etc.  Students in film, creative writing, music, and studio arts are encouraged to submit proposals. A full descriptive breakdown of the performance idea and technical support needed is required at the time of application. Supporting materials may also be requested.

DEADLINE for SUBMISSIONS IS DECEMBER 6Th by 10 p.m.

* Participants in the Fringe Festival will be eligible for any workshops or special work development sessions organized by the department.  *All accepted submissions will have a faculty mentor and scripted work will have an assigned student director.  *Accepted work may be filmed and live-streamed for an audience and for archival purposes. *There will be audition opportunities early in February of 2021.
