Arkansas Women to Watch
February 12 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Free
The Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts presents their 5th exhibition of Arkansas Women to Watch: Paper Routes in 2021. The theme is paper.
Paper is commonplace and accessible in our lives. It bears text and imagery as a medium for communication. It also serves as a support for art forms such as drawing, photography, and printmaking. Contemporary artists employ traditional methods while incorporating new conceptual uses for paper as an art medium. Paper Routes offers examples of collage, origami geometry, and papermaking. The exhibition is underwritten by the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, thanks to grants and gifts from champions of women’s art.
To complement the exhibition Arkansas Women To Watch, artwork created by women with ties to Arkansas from the UA Little Rock Permanent Collection is also on display in the Brad Cushman Gallery. A variety of materials are represented including works on paper, wood and stone sculptures, and ceramics.
