Campus Discussion, Belonging and Equity Through Inclusive Course Content

September 22, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Primrose Igonor will facilitate a campus discussion, Belonging and Equity Through Inclusive Course Content, from 3:00 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. in the Ottenheimer Library Collaborative Learning Classroom, Room 100A, and via Zoom. This opportunity is designed to explore practical and intentional ways our campus can create a sense of belonging and foster critical thinking through inclusive course content. This opportunity will also provide an opportunity to hear faculty voices. Hopefully, this will jumpstart a peer-led, peer review process (or any effective approach) for increasing a sense of belonging among students and, in turn, improve student learning and engagement at UA Little Rock. It is easy to sign-up and there will be cupcakes, coffee, tea, and water for participants.

We also highly recommend you attend Igonor’s one-hour Academy of Teaching and Learning Excellence (ATLE) Lunch and Learn presentation, Belonging and Equity Through Inclusive Course Content, at 12:30 p.m. in the Ottenheimer Library, Room 535. It is easy to sign-up and a buffet lunch will begin at 12:15 p.m.

As our education systems become increasingly diverse, “diverse” students should see themselves reflected in course content as this may lead to greater persistence, retention, and overall student success. The main outcome of this session is to provide practical ways in which attendees can promote diversity and inclusion through their course content and feel confident doing so. Hopefully, this will lead to students engaging in more critical thinking and being able to view various topics from multiple perspectives.
