Laura Raborn: Words Create Reality

Laura creates mixed media works on canvas and paper using many traditional media: charcoal, graphite, acrylic paint, oil paint, ink, and colored pencils. Working concurrently on multiple bodies of work, the human face and language (words) are the leitmotifs she uses to investigate and explore how people communicate. As nuanced as facial expressions, words and their nuanced cultural uses lead us to understand our world. Curated from two bodies of work, “About Face” and “Words Matter”, this exhibition presents artworks that allow us to consider how we use language and interpret language, and how we communicate and experience our lives through facial communication.
