Since the seasons are (hopefully) changing, your wardrobe needs to be updated! As a service learning project for Dr. Laura Barrio’s Women in Literature class (ENGL/GNST 3340-01), some of us are partnering with UALR’s Alliance and AWARE to host an Open Closet, where you get get gently used clothes at discounted prices! The funds raised are going to be donated to Lucie’s Place, a LGBTQ+ homeless shelter in Little Rock. Attached is a flyer with all the relevant information. The Open Closet will be on Friday, April 5th, from 11-3, in Ledbetter A in the Donaghey Student Center.
If you’re interested in donating anything, please contact the Alliance or AWARE on Facebook, or look for marked donation bins around campus, specifically in the library on the first floor! Please keep in mind that we’re looking for GENTLY used clothes, so if you’re looking to donate, please look over your items for wear and tear. This event is gender non-binary and transgender friendly, and we encourage clothes that can be used so that everyone can feel a little more comfortable, we’re asking for shirts, binders, pants, shorts, skirts, and shoes, as well as any accessories that you want! Any and all sizes are welcome and appreciated.
