Maria de Los Angeles is an artist working across multiple media, including painting, printmaking, drawing, installation, performance, sculpture, and fashion. Her work makes use of her observations, memory, and imagination to address questions of migration, citizenship, and the body as a locus of political and social power. She has participated in numerous residencies including (but not limited to) residencies at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, El Museo del Barrio, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She has recently had solo shows at the Schneider Museum of Art (Ashland, OR) and the Museum of Sonoma County (Santa Rosa, CA). Her public artworks include a 2021 mural in Glen Ellen, CA. She holds an MFA in painting and printmaking from Yale University School of Art (2015), a BFA from Pratt Institute (2013), and an Associate Degree in Fine Arts from Santa Rosa Junior College (2010). She is based in New York City, where she teaches at Pratt Institute.
