Attorney Carrel and Computers

The library provides a private carrel reserved for attorney use only. The carrel is equipped with a computer and a phone. Resources available on the computer include internet access, Westlaw, Word, the library’s catalog, and access to the electronic databases owned by the library. Research results and Word documents can be sent to a printer located at the Circulation Desk for printing. Charges for printing are 20¢ a page.

You can reserve the carrel up to 24 hours in advance in any one of the following ways:

  • Online
  • By phone: call 501-916-5453
  • In person: ask at the Circulation Desk.

The library holds a reservation for 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. After that, the reservation is cancelled and the carrel made available to other users.

The library also has two additional public computers which can be used by all patrons. These computers are to be used only for legal research. Resources available on the computers include: internet access, Westlaw, the library’s catalog, and access to the electronic databases owned by the library. Research results can be sent to a printer located at the Circulation Desk for printing. Charges for printing are 20¢ a page.

The public computers are located behind the Reference Desk and are available on a first come, first served basis. To use one of these computers you must first sign in at the Circulation Desk and then be logged onto the computer.

Circulation

If you have a library card, you can borrow circulating items from the library. To obtain a library card, you must show a picture ID and provide your Arkansas Bar number to the Circulation Desk worker.

Not all library materials circulate. Items that do circulate, which include some treatises and government documents, and audio and video materials, may be checked out for two weeks and renewed for an additional two weeks. Some reference materials circulate only overnight. See the library’s Circulation Policy for more information.

All Arkansas attorneys and judges may borrow circulating materials from the general collection. Attorneys and judges from Pulaski, Faulkner, Jefferson, Lonoke, Perry, and Saline counties may also borrow overnight materials.

Copies of Material — Document Delivery

At your request the library will provide photocopies of material owned by the library. This service is available primarily to the central Arkansas legal community. Generally, requests for documents are filled within two business days. However, the library must obtain copyright permission before a request may be filled. If the library cannot obtain the necessary permission in a timely manner, we will notify you of the delay so you can decide whether to wait to receive the material or to obtain it elsewhere.

At your option, you may pick up the requested photocopies at the Circulation Desk or you may have the library deliver documents by U.S. mail, fax, or e-mail.

Basic Charges:

  • $12 per citation, and
  • Copyright fees requested by publisher

Additional Delivery Charges:

  • Library pick-up: $0.10 per page for each page over 20 pages, or
  • Mailed, faxed, or emailed: $0.25 per page for each page over 20 pages.

Patrons may request a price quote prior to making a request.

Please contact Jeff Woodmansee at 501-916-5470 to place a request or for more information regarding this service.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

At your request, the library will borrow items not available in the library from other lending institutions. The library does not charge for this service, however, the lending library may do so. All fees charged by the lending library are passed on to the borrower. All items borrowed from other libraries must be returned by the due date provided or you must request that the check out period be renewed.  Renewal requests must be received at least one week in advance of the due date and are granted solely at the discretion of the lending library.

Please contact Professor Jeff Woodmansee at 501-916-5470 to request an item from ILL.
