The library has open carrels available for use by first-year law students. Students may request a carrel by completing an application online. Applications will open for
Fall 2026 on August 17th at noon. If you have any questions, please contact a library circulation worker in person or by phone at 501-916-5453.
The library is a public place. The library is not responsible for personal items left in the carrel, including library materials checked out to a student.
Open Carrel Rules
- Cell Phones: Please turn off your cell phone ringers while in the library. Please make any phone calls outside of the library so as not to disturb your fellow students.
- Zoom Classes: Please use headphones/earbuds while you are in Zoom classes to limit the amount of noise. The library staff and your fellow students understand that you may be required to speak during Zoom classes.
- Food and Drinks: Please take all food trash with you and dispose of it in the large trash cans in the Stern Gallery or at the entrance of the building.
- Personal Items: The library is a public space. We are not responsible for any items left in your carrel.
- Library Books: Please do not leave library books in your carrel. Library staff will assume they need to be reshelved.

Open carrel applications begin after registration for each academic year and are available for 1L students.
