Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice Society

The Criminal Justice Society is a service organization for students in the Criminal Justice program at UALR. All students taking courses in criminal justice at UALR or who are interested in criminal justice are invited to participate.

For more information about the Society contact one of the following officers:

President: Phillip J Hammons

Vice President: Ashley Miller

Secretary / Treasurer: Taylor Oxley

Events Coordinator: Erica Walters

Annually, our activities are kicked off with the Rob Williams Golf Tournament. The Tournament, honoring an ATF agent who was killed in the line of duty at Waco, is a fundraiser for scholarships for criminal justice students. Proceeds also benefit Special Olympics.

During the year, the Society also participates in projects that will benefit UALR and our community. We focus on projects that will allow our members opportunities to network with professionals in the criminal justice community in central Arkansas.

Society luncheons take place one or two times a semester.  The luncheons include speakers on a variety of topics pertaining to the criminal justice field.  Society luncheons are a great opportunity for students to ask questions and be informed about possible career paths.

Other activities are planned for the rest of the year.  Some of the community service projects the Society frequently participates in include canned food drives and sponsoring Christmas Angels.  Tours of sites of interest to Society members are also part of our regular activities. Ideas, opinions, and suggestions for future activities are always welcome.

Members of the society can enjoy getting involved in the community, getting to know other people in the Department of Criminal Justice, learning more about the criminal justice system, obtaining contacts with professionals in the field, and more.

As a member of the Criminal Justice Society, you are eligible to apply for membership to the national criminal justice honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma

Annual dues are $10.00. All criminal justice students are welcome.

We look forward to your participation!
