Welcome to Physics and Astronomy

Astronomy PictureYou have discovered the  best place to find information about our degree programs, faculty, undergraduate research opportunities in Physics and Astronomy, Physics Club activities, and special announcements.

The UALR Department of Physics & Astronomy offers both a Bachelor or Arts  and Bachelor of Science degree in Physics.  In addition we also offer a minor in Physics and a minor in Astronomy.  If you are interested in graduate programs, our faculty also participates in the Applied Science PhD and MS programs.

Our department has been very successful in obtaining external grants to fund the state-of-the-art laboratories, research programs, and computer facilities.  Research opportunities, for both undergraduate and graduate students, exist in Astrophysics and Materials Science.  The Department also sponsors an active Physics Club, which meets weekly.

For additional information please e-mail the Department Chair, Dr. Tony Hall at tahall@ualr.edu or call him at (501) 569-3275.  We would be very happy to send a free copy of our brochure.  If you would like to schedule a campus tour and check out our Physics Department please contact the Office of Recruiting.
