FDA Gives Honor To Two Alumni

Sithu D Sudarsan Ph. D., an alumni of UALR has been recognized by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with Outstanding Service Award for his leadership role in establishing a Semantic Data Mining program. Dr Sudarsan is currently a Visiting Scientist at US FDA.

 The citation reads as below:

” for leadership in establishing a program of research into data mining techniques with numerous applications to regulatory problems faced by the US Food and Drug Administration.”

 

Sithu D Sudarsan Ph D and Lisham Singh Ph D, both alumni of UALR, are part of the Semantic Data Mining Development Team that was recently recognized with a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Group Recognition Award.  Other team members include:  Xiaofan  Feng, Brian J. Fitzgerald, Raoul P. Jetley, Rahul Pandita and Lohit N. Valleru.

The citation reads as below:

“for exceptional innovating, planning and execution of a strategic scientific initiative in building a semantic text mining search environment.”

The awards were presented on June 18, 2012. It is a proud moment for UALR computer science as well as applied science departments.  It may be noted that Dr Sudarsan was the recipient of “Outstanding Ph D Graduate Student Award” in 2010.
