Daring to Know More and Explore New Ideas

Philosophy plays a central role in shaping our lives. Students who study philosophy will have strong critical and analytical skills which allow them to perform better in all of their studies. More importantly, philosophy provides students the means to understand, direct, and guide their lives.

The faculty in UA Little Rock’s Philosophy and Interdisciplinary Studies programs are committed to preparing students to acknowledge that it is one thing to make a living and another thing to live a life. We offer a curriculum that is both theoretically rigorous and practically oriented.

Employers repeatedly say that it is far easier to teach employees the content of the field rather than teach them skills of thinking critically, presenting clear arguments, identifying essential points, and problem-solving. This is just what philosophers do. We know there is nothing more powerful in the world than an idea.
