The undergraduate program in Accounting at UALR provides the background needed for entry-level positions in the work place and/or advanced study in the field of accountancy. As completion of the Accounting major requires 30 hours of Accounting courses, by  careful selection of courses and satisfactory academic performance, individuals may qualify for and be successful on certifying examinations leading to such professional designations as Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), etc.

Beyond the undergraduate program, the Department of Accounting offers a diversified graduate program in Accounting and in Taxation which includes the Graduate Certificate in Accounting, the Graduate Certificate in Taxation, the Masters of Accountancy, the Masters of Science in Taxation (the only one of its kind in Arkansas), and an MBA with the flexibility to concentrate in Accounting or in Taxation.
