Bowen offers students numerous workshops to provide ample opportunity to learn about and practice the components of the bar exam. Beginning in the 1L year, students have the chance to learn about the bar exam on an introductory level, so they can begin to plan their strategy for preparing for the bar exam. First year students learn about the components of the bar exam and some skills they can begin to hone during the early years of their law school career. They also learn about bar tested subjects and bar skills courses, allowing them to strategically map their law school courses.
2L students will have the opportunity to attend a workshop covering the MPT as part of the Introduction to Bar Prep course. In that workshop, they will complete an MPT under exam conditions. Students will receive professional feedback on their performance in an effort to improve readiness for this component of the Arkansas bar exam.
3L students should focus on continuing to improve their skill sets in anticipation of the bar exam – specifically their legal analysis, writing, and multiple choice approach. Workshops focusing on MEE and MBE skills are offered to provide a general overview of those bar exam components with live instruction from nationally recognized bar examination experts. The workshops provide a methodical approach to essay writing and multiple choice strategies that will help students increase their score on the MEE and MBE portion of the bar exam. These workshops are free to all current Bowen students.
