An Affordable Path to a Meaningful Legal Career
We know cost matters — and at Bowen Law, your legal education comes with less debt and more opportunity. Our tuition and fees are lower than most law schools, and our graduates consistently carry among the least amount of student debt nationwide. That means more freedom to choose the career path that fits your goals, whether that’s public service, private practice, or anything in between.
Explore how you can fund your legal education at Bowen — and build a career that matters, without unnecessary debt.
Bowen automatically considers all applicants for a range of merit-based and mission-aligned scholarships — no separate application required.
Merit Scholarships
25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% tuition awards. Competitive and based on academic performance, LSAT/JD-Next scores, and application materials — especially your personal statement.
Non-Resident Scholarships
Covers in-state tuition for the first year for out-of-state students.
Core Value Scholarships
First-Generation College Student Scholarship – For accepted students who self-identify as first-gen.
Public Service Merit Scholarship – For admitted students with at least one year of Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Teach for America, or City Year service.
Scholarship Policies & Renewal Info
All scholarships are awarded at the time of acceptance and recipients should rely upon their individual award letters for the details and criteria of their scholarships. Merit and Core Value scholarships renew if you remain in the top 60% of your class, with the exception of the 100% scholarship which only renews if you remain in the top 40% of your class. Merit scholarships cannot be combined with core value scholarships, however, non-resident scholarships may be combined with merit or core value scholarships (but not both).

The Federal Work-Study Program provides funds earned through part-time employment to assist students in funding their post-secondary education. UA Little Rock has a limited amount of work-study funds available to law students. For more information, contact the UA Little Rock Office of Financial Aid at 501-916-3035.
Please remember that Bowen students who wish to clerk in courts, government agencies, and firms have opportunities to work year-round, not only in the summer months. (In fact, Bowen students work in such settings at double the national average for US law schools.)
There are also a limited number of campus jobs available for students, such as in the law library.
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act made significant changes to federal student loan programs that are effective July 1, 2026. Existing borrowers may be eligible for continued loans under current rules. This information is subject to change and students should refer to the Federal Student Aid website for official guidance.
The Direct Graduate PLUS Loan Program will be eliminated for new borrowers after July 1, 2026. Eligible law students may borrow up to $50,000 (previously $20,500 annually) through the Direct Unsubsidized Loan Program up to the aggregate loan limit. If a student reaches the aggregate loan limit, they are not eligible to receive additional loans. Unsubsidized loans are not based on financial need. The student is responsible for paying the interest on these loans. Students may defer the interest payments while they are in school, but interest will continue to accrue throughout the life of the loan, and will be capped and added to principal at the end of the deferment period. Please visit Federal Student Aid’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act Updates for new information.
To apply for any federal student loan, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA must be completed annually, and the new application for the upcoming school year is available on October 1. The school code for the UA Little Rock is 001101. You will need a FSA ID in order to sign your FAFSA electronically.
Private education loan programs are available for students who are not eligible for the federal loan programs and who need additional assistance in meeting their Cost of Attendance. Private education loans are typically more expensive, have fewer repayment options than federal loans, and information is subject to frequent change. For current details, contact the UA Little Rock Office of Financial Aid at 501-916-3035.
If you are applying for loans, apply early and submit all required information well before the deadline. Complete a private loan counseling session with the UA Little Rock Financial Aid Office. This can even be done virtually.
