ATLE Lunch and Event: Increasing Student-to-Student Engagement Online and In-Person Discussions

Class discussions, whether online or in person, provide an opportunity for students to think critically and explore ideas out loud, as part of an academic community. Discussions are also a strategy for formative assessment, through which faculty can gauge how well students understand course concepts, assignments, etc. In this session, Kristin Mann and Laura Barrio-Vilar will lead a conversation on how to increase student-to-student engagement, and how to improve the quality of contributions in online discussion boards, in-person discussions, group activities, etc.
