Professor of Marketing and Advertising
Dr. Gary Geissler is known for his learning centered approach that focuses on utilizing the most effective teaching tools, techniques, and technology for students to best learn different subject matter. He is a professor in the Department of Marketing and Advertising and has taught more than 20 different marketing and advertising courses.
Dr. Geissler’s teaching method includes the client-based class project. To date, he has directed more than 150 of these semester-long projects, greatly benefiting thousands of students and well over 100 businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Past clients include AT&T, Facebook, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Farmers Insurances, and the U.S. Department of State, just to name a few. He works with these organizations to create highly involved learning experiences for his students. Besides his client-based project teaching method, he has also demonstrated his teaching quality by mentoring and sponsoring student teams in marketing competitions. In the fall of 2013, he led a team of students who won Taziki’s National Marketing Challenge competition. The team had to create a television commercial, radio spot, and print ad for Taziki’s Mediterranean Café. The UA Little Rock team outperformed teams from much larger universities like North Carolina State, Vanderbilt, and Clemson. In the fall of 2014, Dr. Geissler led a team to win AT&T’s Campus Brand Challenge. The team developed and implemented an integrated Marketing Communications plan for AT&T.
Dr. Gary Geissler has a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Georgia, an M.B.A. in marketing, and a B.S. in general business administration from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.
