Stimulating International Dialogue
Dr. Jacek Lubecki is well known on and off campus for his fervor in bringing together diverse people to discuss international issues. An accomplished teacher and scholar, he has brought attention to issues including sustainability, Holocaust, global climate change, Islam, Arab-Israeli conflict, Jewish holidays, genocide in Darfur, Ramadan, and the Israeli-Palestine conflict.
The associate professor of political science is credited for organizing more than 40 events related to international studies, political science, and Middle Eastern studies that were free and open to the campus and the broader community. He is integral in the success of International Celebration Day, the commemoration of Holocaust Day, and other cultural exchanges and visits from politicians, journalists, and scholars from around the world who have helped to widen experiences for UA Little Rock students and the surrounding community.
Dr. Lubecki coordinates the multi¬disciplinary International Studies and Middle Eastern programs. Lured to UA Little Rock five years ago to revitalize International Studies, the professor has almost tripled the number of students in the major— a testament to his hands-on personal approach to advising and mentorship.
He received M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in international relations at the University of Denver after studying law and romance languages at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poland.
