Assistant General Counsel, Arkansas Children’s Hospital

The Assistant General Counsel provides legal support to Arkansas Children’s, Inc., and all of its subsidiary corporations in order to advance the organizational mission, minimize organizational liability, and ensure compliance with laws and guidelines. This position reports to the Deputy General Counsel.

Position Duties

1. Legal Counsel
Under the authority of the General Counsel, provide legal advice to senior executives, directors, and managers; review contracts and other legal documents; assess institutional liability in employment decisions, real estate transactions, and medical staff issues in ways which minimize risk.
Participate in structuring, negotiating, and documenting complex financial transactions.
Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda on issues affecting the parent corporation, its wholly owned subsidiaries, and other related entities.
Revise and prepare hospital forms, as needed
Prepare and revise departmental and system policies, as needed.

2. Quality Improvement Activities
Advise institutional constituents regarding transactional, regulatory, health, benefits, insurance, employment, and labor laws.
Ensure compliance with transactions and general corporate legal matters.
Participate, advise, and assist with quality improvement projects in other health system departments at the request of the Deputy General Counsel and approval of the area leader.

3. Other Legal Activities
Represent the Office of General Counsel on appropriate health system committees as directed by the Deputy General Counsel.
Work with health system leadership, as directed by the Deputy General Counsel, on various projects.
Assist with other projects/duties as assigned by the Deputy General Counsel.
