Professor Cain argued a case before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit

Darryl Lunon v. Kathy Botsford, et al., Argued for the Appellee, 18-3314, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit (September 24, 2019).

The question before the Eighth Circuit is, if an animal control officer finds a pet at large and the identity of the pet’s owner is knowable, does the Due Process Clause require the officer to notify the owner before euthanizing the pet, sterilizing the pet, or allowing someone else to adopt the pet?
