Professor Boles has published an article on amended jury instructions in Arkansas concerning racial bias.

Boles, Anastasia, MOVING THE NEEDLE: TWO PROMISING TOOLS TO ATTACK ARKANSAS’S RACIAL DISPARITY IN CRIMINAL SENTENCING, 43 U. Ark. Little Rock L. Rev. 1 (2020).  Abstract

This Article examines two tools that may help mitigate the operation of racial bias in jury trials: (1) Arkansas’s new criminal jury instruction addressing racial bias, and (2) the Supreme Court’s 2017 holding that racial bias in jury deliberations violates the 6th Amendment.
