David J. Sachar is a visiting professor of law at the UA Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law, where he teaches criminal procedure, remedies and evidence. A graduate of Rose Bud High School, Sachar grew up in White County, Arkansas. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Harding University in 1991 and his J.D. from Bowen in 1994. He is pursuing an LL.M. in international law at the University of Edinburgh School of Law, with completion anticipated in 2027.
Before joining Bowen’s full-time faculty, Sachar served as director of the National Center for State Courts’ Center for Judicial Ethics, where he led initiatives involving judicial ethics policy, training and consulting in the United States and internationally. His work focused on judicial integrity, public confidence, judicial independence and the rule of law.
Sachar previously served for more than a decade as executive director of the Arkansas Judicial Discipline & Disability Commission, the state agency responsible for investigating and prosecuting allegations of judicial misconduct. Earlier in his career, he served as a prosecutor and civil litigator. He has tried more than 100 jury trials and has also served as a special circuit court judge and special prosecutor in Arkansas.
His work in judicial ethics and integrity has taken him to national and international forums.
